PETALING JAYA: The magistrate’s court here has ordered the police to return forensics samples of A. Kugan, who died in police custody early this year, to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.
Magistrate Ho Kwong Chin made the ruling yesterday after hearing submissions by lawyer N. Surendran, the counsel for Kugan’s mother N. Indra, and deputy public prosecutor Hanim Mohd Rashid who represented the police.
“After hearing submissions by both parties, the court orders that the specimen and other items seized be returned to the centre immediately,” he added.
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Sessions Court today fixed Nov 4 to decide if the prosecution should give documents asked by P.Uthayakumar to prepare his defence in the sedition charge against him.
Judge Sabariah Othman set the date after hearing submissions by deputy public prosecutor Noorin Badarudin and defence lawyer N.Surendran for Uthyakumar.
Lawyer, N. Surendran, the lawyer of R. Kumaresan, the nephew of that now ‘infamous’ private investigator P. Balasubramaniam, has been called to the police station for investigation. He is just the lawyer of the nephew, so there is really no reason as to why the police is calling Surendran in to give a statement. This is harassment, is it not?
